On the job

Hello El Mirage!

The lack of updates is owed to the fact that Brad and I are currently reporting from our first community, Los Alamos, New Mexico.  We are here until Saturday, May 30.  We’ll be back for a week in Syracuse and we will then fly back over to the southwest and join all of you in El Mirage on June 8.

Feel free to keep us with us in our Los Alamos blog while we’re here.  You’ll get an idea of what we’ll be up to when we come to your town.

Until then, check out the links on the side of the page, especially the $1,000 Contest that we’re promoting! You can get started working on it now!

Hello to all-

A few things.

1) Brad and I will be spending the first two weeks of our News21 Project in Los Alamos, New Mexico.  We will leave May 19 and return May 30.  Please follow our Los Alamos blog; we will be updating it constantly while on the road and throughout the summer.

2) We have decided on a domain name for our site that will be feature all of our content at the end of the summer: theyoungandthewireless.com  Thanks to Jen Ward for the clever idea! Until the site is up, you can visit our group blog, where all 11 News21 fellows will be posting to throughout the summer.  Check out photos from our training sessions.

3)  Finally, I would like to let you all know that Brad and I are very excited to come to your town in June.  Personally, I am looking forward to visiting both towns, as I’ve never been to New Mexico or Arizona.

We are still looking for many people to meet with during our stay in El Mirage.  Our mission is to explore how technology affects teens’ relationships with each other, their families, and friends, and how it influences the way they see and experience the world.

Therefore, obviously we would love to meet with teenagers, but we are certainly not limiting ourselves to this age-range.  We’re excited to meet with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, church leaders, community leaders, teachers and administration, boyfriends/girlfriends, best friends, etc.

If you are interested in being a part of this exciting project, please let us know! You can either leave a comment, or contact us through the following ways:

Melissa: (302) 598-3279; melissalromero-at-gmail.com

Brad: (919) 357-3086; bahorn-at-syr.edu

Looking forward to meeting you!
